“All hail Bristol. The southwest city, which has grown up on and around the shores of the River Avon and the Severn Estuary, is today crowned the best city in Britain by The Sunday Times”. (March 2014).
At Leese & Nagle we are justifiably proud of the vibrant and historic city in which we live and work. With a population of half a million or so, the city enjoys excellent cultural and recreational facilities, convenient transport links to London and the rest of the country, and its own International Airport. Surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the West Country, we think Bristol has it all!
Bristol has been around at least a thousand years before Brunel arrived on the scene. Back in the middle ages its strategic trading position ranked it as England’s second city behind London. It is Brunel that has left arguably the most visual impact on our great city. Ranked second only to Churchill as the greatest Briton of all time some of his greatest achievements are still in use every day like the Clifton suspension bridge. Others like the SS Great Britain are preserved in the dock in which she was built in 1843 providing a fitting centrepiece to the regenerated old harbour. Wind the clock on over 100 years and Bristol had become a centre of high tech engineering; Concorde being a fitting example. As these traditional industries have declined the city has reinvented itself once again. The financial services sector being a prime example with home grown businesses such as Hargreaves Lansdown blazing an impressive trail.
Apart from (allegedly) attending school with one of our directors his name and art has become synonymous with the city. Bristol has been recognized as European Green Capital 2015. The award reflects the city’s success in creating a green city with a high quality of life. The city has developed a large and diverse cultural scene and whilst Banksy may have got the international attention in recent times the city is constantly evolving and it is this willingness to embrace change that makes Bristol the UK’s number 1 city.
We're not world famous like Brunel and infamous like Banksy but we have established and evolved our business along the lines of a famous Bristol proverb ‘Shipshape and Bristol fashion’. To use this means we provide a solid, dependable service based on good honest old fashioned values. It’s stood us in good stead for the last decade or more and we hope will continue to do so in the future.
We predominantly operate throughout the desirable north western suburbs of the city. From the regenerated harbourside apartments to the elegant Georgian properties of Clifton, the grand Victorian villas of Redland and Cotham, to the peaceful, leafy homes of the family orientated 1930s suburbs. Our views on the suburbs can be found on the right and give an insight into which area may be right for you.
With some of the best state and private schools in the country and the city’s main cultural, social and recreational amenities on the doorstep, it’s a great place to live.
